Hookney Tor stands on the eastern side of Dartmoor, with views across the valley to Challacombe and the nearby Grimspound settlement. It consists of several granite piles and is part of the Two Moors Way, offering a path that connects it to Hameldown Tor to the south and Shapley Tor to the north. The tor is close to the Vitifer Mine and overlooks one of Dartmoor's heavily tin-mined areas.
