Shapley Tor

Devon

Shapley Tor is a small granite peak in the heart of Dartmoor, sitting at the centre of the open moorland landscape. Like many of Dartmoor's tors, it rises from rolling granite-studded ground, offering good views across the high moor in all directions. The tor itself is undemanding to reach, making it a natural waypoint on walks across this part of the moor.

The walk to Shapley Tor takes you through typical Dartmoor terrain, with heather, gorse and grass underfoot. The tor's modest height and central location make it a useful landmark and a good vantage point to get your bearings, or simply to pause and take in the sweep of moorland that surrounds it.
