Hut circle near Siward's or Nun's Cross

This stone hut circle is part of an unenclosed settlement scattered across the moor west of Nun's Cross. Such circles represent the foundations of Bronze Age roundhouses, built by communities who lived and worked on Dartmoor's high ground. The site forms one of many surviving examples of domestic settlement from this period, revealing how people adapted to the moorland environment over three thousand years ago.
The circles themselves are subtle features in the landscape, marked by low stone walls that once supported the outer edges of turf and thatch structures.
