This round cairn is a scheduled monument of Bronze Age origin, one of hundreds that dot Dartmoor's high ground. Built as a burial mound, it sits in the open moorland south of Thirlstone, part of a pattern of ritual and domestic sites that shaped the prehistoric landscape.
Today it appears as a low stone mound, weathered by centuries of wind and rain. Walking the moor here, you pass through country that has held human memory for over three thousand years. The cairn is best visited as part of wider exploration of the surrounding bronze age remains and the moorland itself.
