Rough Tor

Devon

Rough Tor is a substantial granite outcrop in the northern reaches of Dartmoor, its broken summit rising to 546 metres above sea level. The tor's character is defined by weathered granite blocks and tors, creating a distinctive profile when viewed from the moor approaches. The exposed position offers broad views across the high plateau and moorland in all directions.

The walk to Rough Tor crosses typical Dartmoor terrain, moorland and grassland with scattered granite outcrops. The tor makes a natural destination for walkers exploring the northern moor, standing as a visible landmark across the high country. The ascent is straightforward once reached, with granite blocks forming the final approach to the summit.
