This scheduled monument preserves the remains of a prehistoric settlement on Dartmoor's high moorland. The site comprises partially enclosed stone hut circles, a round cairn, and a boundary stone, spread across the open ground west of Shell Top. These features suggest occupation during the Bronze Age, when communities built clusters of round houses on the moor, adapting to the landscape and its resources.
Today the site lies on rough moorland where the stone foundations of the huts are visible amongst grass and heather. The cairn and boundary stone remain as markers of ancient land use and territorial divisions. Walking here, you move through a landscape shaped by thousands of years of human presence, where Bronze Age settlers left their imprint on the stone and soil of Dartmoor.
