Hut circle settlement, Horn's Cross

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1019274) describes a hut circle settlement and a cairn on a gentle north-facing slope of Holne Ridge, above the O Brook. The settlement has an agglomerated enclosure and three huts, circular banks round spaces of 7 to 15.9 square metres, averaging 10.7, with walls 0.4 to 0.8 metres high. One has a visible doorway and abuts the enclosure wall, one lies under a later cairn and another lies outside the enclosures. The cairn is 7.6 metres across and up to 1 metre high. It lies in the parish of Holne, about 1.1 km south of Combestone Tor and 2.2 km south-east of Huccaby.

The eastern enclosure has a substantial wall of large, partly coursed rocks, 2.2 metres wide and up to 0.9 metres high, round an area 30 metres by 20 metres with two of the huts. The second enclosure is much slighter, a wall of upright stones 1 metre wide and up to 0.6 metres high. The western enclosure is cut by two later leats, part of the system that carried water to the tinworks on and beyond Holne Moor. The southern leat is 0.6 metres wide and 0.15 metres deep with a bank 1 metre wide. The northern is bigger, 1.7 metres wide and 0.7 metres deep, with a bank 1.5 metres wide and 0.5 metres high.
