Mel Tor

Devon

Mel Tor is a small granite peak set among the rolling expanses of central Dartmoor. The tor itself is unobtrusive, typical of many high points across the moor, with weathered granite outcrops and a setting of heather and grass. The views from here stretch across the moorland plateau, open and unhurried, with other tors visible across the landscape.

The walk to Mel Tor is straightforward moorland walking, accessible from the nearby roads and footpaths that cross this part of Dartmoor. It makes a good waypoint on a longer walk rather than a major destination in itself, and rewards the visitor with the quiet satisfaction of moorland walking without difficulty or fanfare.
