Middle Tor
Devon
Middle Tor rises as a straightforward granite outcrop in the central moorland, unremarkable in height but clear enough on the skyline. The rock itself bears the weathered character of Dartmoor granite, broken and worn by centuries of moorland weather. Standing at 410 metres, it commands views across the surrounding open moor, with Brown Willy and other tors visible across the ridge lines.
The walk to Middle Tor is undemanding, crossing easy moorland that rewards the effort with a sense of the moor's quiet, open character. It sits naturally within the landscape rather than dominating it, a good waypoint for longer moorland walks or a modest outing in its own right.
