Red-a-ven Brook

Okehampton Hamlets, Devon

The Red-a-ven Brook rises in boggy ground just east of High Willhays, the highest point on Dartmoor and in southern England. From there it flows north across the open moor of the Okehampton firing range, below the line of Yes Tor and West Mill Tor.

It joins the West Okement River in the valley between Meldon Reservoir and the tall Meldon Viaduct, on the northern edge of the moor above Okehampton. Much of its course lies within the military training area, so access follows the range notices.
