Hound Tor

Devon

Hound Tor is a granite outcrop of modest height but marked character, its rocks stacked in the fractured, weathered way typical of Dartmoor's tors. The summit commands views across the open moorland in all directions, a good vantage point to read the contours and distances of the central plateau.

The tor sits in country that rewards wandering. The walk to it is straightforward moorland walking, with the granite formations visible from distance enough to navigate by. In this landscape of heather, grass and stone, Hound Tor makes a natural destination for a morning or afternoon on the moor.
