Hound Tor

Hound Tor is a granite outcrop on Dartmoor that shows the heavy weathering typical of the moor's stone. It sits conveniently close to the B3387 road between Bovey Tracey and Widecombe-in-the-Moor, making it easy to reach. The tor is known for its balancing stone, a distinctive feature that draws visitors. Nearby, Houndtor Wood Bridge spans the Becka Brook as it flows down towards the River Bovey, and the old Manaton road that crossed the bridge historically passes through the woodland setting around the tor.
