Great Mis Tor

Devon

Great Mis Tor rises prominently above the River Walkham valley, its granite outcrop distinctive across the surrounding moorland. At 538 metres, it commands views across the high plateau and down towards the river gorge below. The tor's name and weathered stones speak of Dartmoor's ancient granite character.

The walk to the summit rewards those who make the effort. The approach crosses open moor with the tor visible from some distance away, growing more impressive as you draw near. From the top, the surrounding landscape opens out across the central moor and beyond. It is a natural focal point on the high ground north-east of Princetown.
