Hare Tor

Devon

Hare Tor stands at 531 metres on the central plateau of Dartmoor, a straightforward granite summit typical of the moor's higher ground. The tor itself is relatively understated compared to some of Dartmoor's more dramatic peaks, but its height and open setting give wide views across the surrounding moorland.

The walk to Hare Tor takes you across open heath and grass, with few shelter markers. The granite outcrops and the moor's rolling character become clearer as you climb. From the top you can see far across Dartmoor's interior, with the chance to spot other tors and the distant edges of the National Park. It is good walking country, straightforward and honest, with the moor's quiet scale on full display.
