Enclosure north-west of Gutter Tor

This scheduled monument is an enclosed settlement of Bronze Age date, situated on Dartmoor's open moorland north-west of Gutter Tor. The enclosure consists of a bank and ditch defining an area where people once lived and worked, evidence of the moor's long history of habitation and land use stretching back thousands of years.

Today the earthwork remains visible in the moorland landscape, a quiet marker of ancient life on these heights. It lies within the broader pattern of prehistoric settlement that characterises Dartmoor, and its survival offers insight into how communities organised their settlements and managed the land in the Bronze Age.
