This scheduled monument comprises a cairn and a section of the Taw Marsh Reave, a Bronze Age boundary wall that once divided the high moorland. The reave is a substantial bank and ditch, still visible as a linear feature running across the landscape, typical of the extensive field systems and territorial markers that prehistoric communities built across Dartmoor.
The cairn sits within this ancient framework, likely a burial mound or territorial marker from the same period.
