Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1020873) describes a cairn in a prominent position on Cocks Hill, above the valley of the River Tavy. It is a stony mound 15 metres across and up to 0.8 metres high. Two separate hollows lead into it from the south-west and north-west from robbing or partial early excavation. On the north side a bank 1.4 metres wide and 0.3 metres high with some edge-set stones marks a kerb that survives elsewhere buried. An irregular mound 2 metres by 2 metres on the west side is a spoil dump from the earlier investigations, and a hollow 1.8 metres by 1 metre and 0.25 metres deep on the north-west edge is a shell hole from military training here in the 20th century. It lies in the parish of Peter Tavy, about 1.2 km north of Clay Tor.
