Platform cairn near Cawsand Beacon

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1010772) describes a platform cairn on the summit ridge of Cawsand or Cosdon Hill, part of a cemetery of at least two round cairns, two ring cairns and one platform cairn. The mound is 16.5 metres across and up to 1 metre high. A hollow in the middle left by an early excavation has been mostly filled with loose rubble, now a pile of stones 3 metres across and 1 metre high. The outer edge is faced with close-set upright stones, many leaning outwards, forming a kerb up to 0.7 metres high. A second kerb, mostly buried, lies 1 metre inside the outer one and shows as four edge-set stones in the west side. It lies in the parish of South Tawton, about 1.4 km south-east of Ladybrook Tor and 2.4 km south-west of South Zeal.
