Hut circles and Will May's House

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1019981) describes an unenclosed hut circle settlement and a post-medieval shelter known as Will May's House on a gentle east-facing slope above the valley of the North Teign River. The settlement has seven huts, circular walls round spaces of 12 to 27 square metres, with walls 0.25 to 0.7 metres high. Four have visible doorways. The shelter has a coursed drystone wall 0.6 to 1.15 metres wide and up to 1.2 metres high, a space 2.7 metres by 1.3 metres inside, a doorway 0.45 metres wide in the north wall and a fireplace in the west wall, 0.5 metres wide, 0.75 metres deep and 0.67 metres high. It lies in the parish of Gidleigh, about 1 km east of Watern Tor and 3.5 km south-west of Gidleigh.
