Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1002641) describes a standing cross on the village green in the middle of Sampford Spiney, close to the parish church. It is a tall, slender, slightly tapering Latin cross set into a boulder, up to 2.3 metres high and 0.5 metres across the arms, square at the base and octagonal above. One arm is slightly damaged and there is a vertical crack in the head. It lies in the parish of Sampford Spiney, about 0.7 km south of Sampford Tor and 2.8 km north of Walkhampton.
It was moved to where it stands from a nearby hedge. The cross is also listed at Grade II.
