Hurston Ridge holds the remains of several Bronze Age structures arranged across the moorland: stone-built cairns, likely burial monuments, sit alongside the earthwork traces of an enclosed settlement. These dwellings and their surrounding landscape tell of farming communities who occupied this high ground several thousand years ago, working the moor for grazing and cultivation.
Running across the site is a length of reave, the characteristic Dartmoor stone boundary that once divided and organised the landscape into fields and holdings. Walking here, you encounter not isolated relics but interconnected pieces of an ancient system, where settlement, burial ground and field division worked as one lived environment.
