Little Kneeset

Little Kneeset sits alone in boggy high moorland, hemmed in by water on three sides and dwarfed by its taller neighbours Great Kneeset and Fur Tor. The summit itself is unremarkable, just grass and a small cairn, but the granite outcrops on the slopes tell a different story. The most striking is a modest overhang on the southern face, surrounded by clitter and reeds. Head north and you'll find a ruined rockpile above Black Ridge Brook with its cascade of falls. William Crossing was struck by the view from nearby, calling Fur Tor's granite masses wonderfully striking against the moorland backdrop. The ground here is wet, and the hill sits within the Okehampton firing range, so check before you go.
