Leighon Tor

Leighon Tor sits on the eastern side of Hound Tor Combe, rising about 377 metres on a steep slope of Black Hill. It is a decent granite outcrop marked by immense horizontal jointings and weirdly shaped core remnants. The tor was confused with Greator Rocks for many years, even appearing incorrectly in early guidebooks by Rowe and Crossing, though Crossing later corrected himself. It remains easy to mistake for Hole Rock, which lies only 100 metres away. The tor can be reached by contouring north from Smallacombe Rocks or walking down from Black Hill itself, and rewards the visit with views along the valley.
