Kit Rocks

Kit Rocks is a cluster of granite outcrops sitting above the left bank of the East Dart River deep into North Dartmoor, the first significant rocks you encounter walking up the valley from Kit Steps. The highest outcrops form a line of low cliffs facing the river and are pocked with shallow basins, while the eastern side towards Kit Hill is grassed over. This is a genuine remote place, reached by a trek from Postbridge via Sandy Hole Pass, and it rewards the effort with the sound of the river and a real sense of isolation. The rocks provide welcome relief from the surrounding fenland and fells, and on a quiet day, the silence is only broken by the East Dart trickling past.
