Hunter's Tor

Devon

Hunter's Tor is a small granite outcrop set in the open moorland of central Dartmoor, characteristic of the many unnamed and lesser-known peaks that give the moor its distinctive rocky texture. The tor rises from heathland and rough grass, with weathered granite boulders marking its summit, and rewards walkers with clear views across the surrounding moorland plateau.

The walk to Hunter's Tor takes you through typical Dartmoor terrain, crossing open ground where the landscape is largely treeless and exposed to the elements. This is moorland walking in its purest form, away from the most visited tors, making it a good choice for those seeking a quieter encounter with the granite heart of the park.
