Hunter's Tor camp

Hunter's Tor camp is a scheduled monument marking the site of an ancient hilltop settlement, probably dating to the Bronze Age when communities first began to establish more permanent dwellings on Dartmoor's high ground. The earthwork defences and settlement traces visible today reflect patterns of settlement common across the moor during this period, when people moved to moorland heights to exploit grazing and resources.
The site commands views across the surrounding landscape, typical of defensive or administrative positions chosen by prehistoric communities. Today it remains as low earthworks and structural traces on the tor itself, offering visitors a tangible link to Dartmoor's deep past and the long human history of the moor.
