Hunt Tor

Hunt Tor is a granite summit on the central Dartmoor plateau, rising to 562 metres above sea level. The tor itself is a small, weathered outcrop of granite that crowns the hill, characteristic of Dartmoor's higher peaks. Its location puts it among some of the moor's most open country, where the landscape rolls away in all directions across heather, grass and scattered tors.

The approach across the plateau is typical Dartmoor walking: open moorland with few obstacles, though navigation requires care in poor visibility. The tor rewards the climb with wide views across the central heights and down into the valleys that drain the moor. It is a quiet summit, less visited than some of Dartmoor's more famous peaks, and sits well within the walking landscape of walkers exploring the high moor on foot.
