Gren Tor
Devon
Gren Tor is a modest granite outcrop standing at 512 metres on the central plateau of Dartmoor. Its low, weathered rocks lack the dramatic presence of higher tors, but the tor commands a quiet place in the open moorland with views across the moor in most directions. The granite is typical of the moor, broken and weathered, offering little shelter but honest exposure to the elements and the sky.
The tor is reached across rolling moorland, away from main roads and settlements. It makes a straightforward destination for walkers exploring the central moor, and sits well within a longer moorland walk. The plateau here is gentle rather than spectacular, a place where the moor's true character shows: open ground, granite, weather and distance.
