Enclosed stone hut circle settlement and cairn 460m north east of Rough Tor

This scheduled monument preserves the remains of a prehistoric settlement dating to the Bronze Age, when Dartmoor's high ground was home to farming communities. The site consists of a cluster of hut circles, the stone foundations of round dwellings, along with a cairn. These structures sit at around 460 metres altitude on the open moor, exposed to the elements as they have been for thousands of years.
Today the site appears as a series of low stone rings and mounds scattered across the moorland, best understood by walking among them and observing how they relate to the surrounding landscape. Like many such settlements on Dartmoor, it offers insight into how people lived on the high moor in prehistory, adapting to a landscape that remains largely unchanged. The site lies within the broader pattern of Bronze Age occupation across Dartmoor.
