Four round barrows near Soussons

These four round barrows sit on Soussons Down in the heart of Dartmoor, survivors of a Bronze Age landscape shaped by people who lived and died here over three thousand years ago. Round barrows are burial mounds, typically earthen or stone heaps raised over cremated or inhumed remains, and they cluster across Dartmoor in groups like this one, marking places significant to their communities.

Today they are low features on the open moor, visible as gentle rises in the turf and gorse.
