Enclosure and hut circle settlement near Deadlake Foot

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1007539) describes an enclosure and a large unenclosed hut circle settlement on the lower part of a west-facing slope overlooking the Rattle Brook. The enclosure is 29 metres long by 24 metres wide, with a rubble wall 1.1 metres wide and up to 0.4 metres high and an entrance on the west. Four hut circles are attached to its wall and one lies in the middle. It lies in the parish of Dartmoor Forest, about 1 km south-east of Chat Tor.
The unenclosed settlement has 21 hut circles, eight of them attached to boundary walls. Inner diameters run from 1.7 to 5 metres, with an average of 2.8 metres, and the walls of stone and earth stand 0.2 to 0.7 metres high. All the huts are circular except one, which is sub-rectangular, and one has a porch.
