Enclosure and fields N of Yar Tor

North of Yar Tor lie the remains of an ancient enclosure and associated field system, likely dating to the Bronze Age or Iron Age. The earthworks represent the practical organisation of early farming communities on the high moor, with stock management and cultivation integrated into the moorland landscape. These monuments are characteristic of Dartmoor's extensive prehistoric settlement pattern.
Today the site survives as low banks and ditches visible across the rough moorland. The field boundaries and enclosure perimeter are clearest in certain light and after wet weather.
