This scheduled monument is the remains of an enclosed prehistoric settlement, likely dating to the Bronze Age or Iron Age. The site lies on open moorland south east of Hookney Tor, in an area rich with evidence of ancient habitation. The enclosure would have provided shelter and protection for a small community living from stock rearing and subsistence farming on the high moor.
Today the site survives as earthwork remains, its boundaries and internal features still legible in the landscape.
