This scheduled monument comprises the remains of a prehistoric settlement, visible as a scatter of stone hut circles across unenclosed moorland northeast of Leeden Tor. The site dates to the Bronze Age, when Dartmoor supported scattered farming communities living in small roundhouses, leaving behind these characteristic stone foundations.
Today the hut circles are subtle features in the landscape, requiring patience to read. The site sits on typical moorland terrain, surrounded by heather and rough grass. It offers insight into how people lived and worked on the moor thousands of years ago, and forms part of the dense archaeological record that makes Walkhampton Common significant for understanding Dartmoor's ancient past.
