Two round cairns near Sourton Tors

These two round cairns sit on open moorland 540 metres to the east of Sourton Tors, part of the dense scatter of Bronze Age burial monuments that characterize this part of Dartmoor. Built over graves, they are now low mounds softened by grass and heather, easy to overlook unless you know what to look for.
Today they form part of the archaeological fabric of the high moor, standing among other cairns and archaeological features that speak to ancient settlement and ritual on Dartmoor. Walking here brings you into an older landscape, where the moorland held meaning and memory for Bronze Age communities.
