Scorriton Down

Scorriton Down is a small granite tor on the eastern side of Dartmoor, rising from moorland that sits at a considerable height. The peak itself offers wide views across the open moor, particularly toward the higher tors and ridges that define the central plateau. The granite outcrops here are characteristic of Dartmoor's moorland fringe.

The approach is straightforward across open ground, making it a natural waypoint on longer walks through this quieter part of the moor. The landscape around it is typical of Dartmoor's eastern reaches: heather, grass, and scattered stones, with few shelter breaks on the walk up. It is a modest destination rather than a dramatic one, but its position gives it value as a vantage point and a marker in the moor's subtle topography.
