Halstock Hill
Devon
Halstock Hill is a quiet granite tor rising to 414 metres on the open central moor. The peak itself is unremarkable, lacking the dramatic outcrops of higher Dartmoor summits, but its position on the watershed gives it clear sightlines across the moorland plateau and beyond to the surrounding hills.
The approach is straightforward moorland walking, crossing rough grass and heather with few obstacles. From the summit you can see across Dartmoor's characteristic rolling terrain to more prominent peaks. It is the kind of place that rewards unhurried exploration, part of Dartmoor's quieter landscape where fewer visitors venture.
