Rugglestone Rock

Devon

Rugglestone Rock is a small but distinct granite tor on the open moor, standing at 240 metres above sea level. Its position in the heart of Dartmoor gives it a quiet presence rather than dramatic height, and the rock itself has the weathered character typical of the moor's granite outcrops. From the summit, views extend across the surrounding moorland in all directions, taking in the texture of heather, gorse and grass that defines central Dartmoor.

The walk to Rugglestone Rock is straightforward moorland rambling, with good access from the surrounding paths and tracks. It makes a natural waypoint on a longer walk rather than a destination in itself, and sits comfortably within the landscape rather than dominating it. For walkers exploring this part of the moor, it offers a good vantage point and the satisfaction of reaching a named height.
