Manaton Parish Council

Manaton is a small Dartmoor village in the Teignbridge district, on the moor's eastern fringe close to Haytor and the popular Becky Falls woodland attraction. At its heart is the 15th-century church of St Winifred, notable for its medieval rood screen and bells dating from around 1440 to 1450. The village has literary associations: novelist John Galsworthy stayed regularly at nearby Wingstone farmhouse in the early twentieth century. Manaton Parish Council is the elected local authority for the village, meeting monthly (second Monday, except August) in Manaton Parish Hall, with agendas and minutes published in advance on noticeboards and online. Community assets referenced by the council include a community orchard, games court, village green and cricket pitch. As with many small Dartmoor parishes, the council acts as the first point of contact between residents and Teignbridge District Council, Devon County Council and the Dartmoor National Park Authority.
