Peter Tavy Parish Council

Peter Tavy is a small village and civil parish on the western edge of Dartmoor, about three miles northeast of Tavistock, taking its name from St Peter's parish church and the River Tavy which runs nearby. The medieval church, dedicated to St Peter, dates largely from the 14th century and is Grade I listed, standing with a lychgate and village cross at the heart of the settlement. The parish is predominantly rural, with a scatter of farms and hamlets rising toward the open moor, and includes the well-known Peter Tavy Inn, a popular stop for walkers. Community life centres on the village hall, the parish church and a Methodist chapel. Peter Tavy Parish Council is the elected local authority for the parish, distinct from the neighbouring Mary Tavy Parish Council, and is responsible for matters such as footpaths, local amenities and representing residents' views to West Devon Borough Council and Devon County Council.
