This scheduled monument is an enclosed settlement of stone hut circles, likely dating to the Bronze Age when Dartmoor's upland was more densely settled than today. The site sits 200 metres east of Leeden Tor, positioned to catch shelter and access to water and grazing. Hut circles, the stone foundations of round dwellings, are scattered across Dartmoor and represent one of our most direct links to the people who lived and worked the moor in prehistory.
On the ground today, you will find low circular stone walls marking the footprints of former homes, often visible as rings or platforms in the heather and grass. These modest remains stand as quiet testimony to Bronze Age farming communities and their intimate knowledge of the moorland landscape. The site rewards slow walking and careful looking.
