This scheduled monument is a cairn containing a cist, or stone-built burial chamber, dating to the Bronze Age. It stands on Dartmoor's open moorland north of Whittenknowles Rocks, part of the landscape of burial mounds that mark where Bronze Age communities honoured their dead across the high ground.
Today the site is a low cairn of stones with a stone-lined burial chamber at its heart. It sits within the wider pattern of prehistoric monuments scattered across this part of the moor, a quiet reminder of the people who lived and died here thousands of years ago.
