Wringworthy Farmhouse

Devon

Wringworthy Farmhouse is a substantial listed building with roots reaching back to the medieval period, though it has been altered and extended over centuries as farming needs and building practice changed. The farmhouse sits in open moorland country, characteristic of Dartmoor's dispersed settlement pattern where hardy families worked stock and cultivated the difficult upland soils.

Today the building stands as a tangible record of Dartmoor's long history of settlement and land use. From outside, you can read the accumulated layers of its past in its fabric and form. The surrounding landscape, with its patterns of moorland, enclosure and distance, reflects the working environment that shaped the farmhouse and those who built and inhabited it.
