Water Hill

Devon

Water Hill is a small granite tor rising from the open moorland of central Dartmoor. The peak itself is unassuming, typical of many of Dartmoor's higher points, but its location on the plateau offers the kind of broad, uninterrupted views that define walking on the moor. The granite outcrops are weathered and rounded, characteristic of Dartmoor's exposed stone.

The approach across moorland is straightforward, making this a good destination for walkers seeking a quiet vantage point without difficulty. From the summit, the moor stretches in all directions, with the typical mix of grass, heather and distant tors marking the horizon. It is the kind of place that rewards those who wander rather than those who hurry.
