Hut circle settlement near Great Trowlesworthy Tor

This scheduled monument comprises a cluster of stone hut circles, the remains of a prehistoric settlement that once stood on the moorland east of Great Trowlesworthy Tor. The huts date to the Bronze Age, when communities lived and worked across Dartmoor's high ground, building these characteristic circular dwellings with stone-founded walls.

Today, visitors find low stone foundations set into the moorland turf, scattered across a gentle slope. The site sits within the complex landscape of ancient settlement that characterises this part of Dartmoor, close to other Bronze Age monuments. Walking here gives a sense of how people used the moor thousands of years ago, moving with their livestock across terrain that looks much as it did then.
