Round cairn on North Hessary Tor

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1002504) describes a round cairn on North Hessary Tor, a very prominent hill that is the watershed between the West Dart, the Meavy and the Walkham. The cairn is a circular stony mound up to 7 metres across and 0.5 metres high, with a partly buried ditch up to 1.3 metres wide and 0.2 metres deep around it. It lies in the parish of Dartmoor Forest, about 0.3 km south of Herne Hole Tor and 1.3 km north-west of Princetown.
A second cairn nearby is not included in the scheduling because it has not been formally assessed.
