Herne Hole Tor

Devon

Herne Hole Tor is a small granite peak set in the quieter eastern reaches of Dartmoor, where the moor rolls gently and feels less crowded than the high central tors. The exposed granite outcrop is characteristic of Dartmoor's spine, weathered and fractured by centuries of moorland weather, offering a natural vantage point across the surrounding landscape.

The walk to the tor takes you through typical moorland terrain, with access from the scattered settlements and lanes that fringe this part of the moor. From the summit, views open across the undulating moorland plateau, with distant glimpses toward the higher peaks to the west. It is a straightforward walk for those exploring the eastern moor, and a good point to understand the lie of the land.
