Prehistoric hut circle settlement near Yealm Steps

This scheduled monument preserves evidence of Bronze Age life on Dartmoor, with stone hut circles clustered in the landscape alongside the field systems that once served the community. The settlement sits within a palimpsest of use, with post-medieval buildings and two lengths of leat water channel added in later centuries, showing how this corner of the moor continued to be worked and inhabited across millennia.

Located south east of Yealm Steps, the site offers walkers a tangible sense of prehistoric occupation and the enduring pull of this landscape.
