Prehistoric and medieval fields south-west of White Tor

Historic England's scheduling record (list entry 1007978) describes a prehistoric field system of irregular plots, stone hut circles, a medieval field, a clearance cairn and an animal shelter on a south-west-facing slope above the Colly Brook. The field system survives as stony banks averaging 1.8 metres wide and 0.3 metres high, marking over ten separate plots. Some of the walling was robbed to build the later rectangular field. A platform near the south edge of the field system is the site of a hut circle. A second hut circle lies just outside the visible field system but may once have been inside it. It is terraced into the hillside, 8.8 metres across inside, within a wall 1.7 metres wide and up to 0.3 metres high. It lies in the parish of Peter Tavy, about a few hundred metres south-east of Set Tor and 1.9 km east of Peter Tavy.

The rectangular field lies over the east part of the older field system. It is 190 metres east to west by 100 metres north to south, with a flat-topped bank 2 metres wide and up to 0.4 metres high. Inside it are two lengths of the earlier field boundaries, a clearance cairn 2.5 metres across and 0.35 metres high, a hut circle and a small triangular animal shelter, 8 metres by 4.2 metres inside, with a rubble wall 1.2 metres wide and up to 0.2 metres high. The field and the shelter are medieval or post-medieval.
