Lisa Schneidau

Lisa Schneidau is a storyteller, author and folklorist living on the wild edge of Dartmoor in Devon. She uses storytelling to inspire, provoke curiosity and build stronger connections between people and nature, working in the oral tradition where traditional and modern stories are shared from memory. She tells stories at events and venues across the UK and beyond: schools and museums, nature reserves and festivals, arts centres and boardrooms, and her work includes performance storytelling, corporate training and story creation with communities.

Born in north Buckinghamshire, Lisa originally trained as an ecologist and worked in nature conservation for 25 years across the UK, in roles including farm advisor, river surveyor, political lobbyist and conservation director, before storytelling took over and she became a full-time freelance creative. She has written five popular books of folk tales exploring the UK's folklore of nature and the land, including the best-selling Botanical Folk Tales of Britain and Ireland.
