Drewsteignton Parish Council

Drewsteignton Parish Council serves a cluster of settlements in the Teign valley on the north-eastern edge of Dartmoor National Park, roughly 13 miles west of Exeter. As well as the village of Drewsteignton itself, well known for its picturesque square of thatched cottages beside the church, and for its proximity to Fingle Bridge and Castle Drogo, the parish takes in the smaller communities of Crockernwell, Sandy Park, Venton and Whiddon Down. The council runs its own website as a service to residents and visitors, publishing local history and a gallery of images alongside its formal business. As with all English parish councils, members operate under the Nolan principles of public life, and the council states its aim of maintaining the heritage, natural beauty and delicate ecology of the parish, which sits wholly within the National Park.
